What was The 72 Hour Open House?
The 72 Hour Open House was like other Vancouver Real Estate Open Houses, except that it didn't stop for 72 hours after it started. Visitors were welcome to view the property day and night through out the weekend. There was no time that they were not welcome to view the property, noon, midnight, 4 am. Whatever worked for them, Kye Grace was there to show them this Gastown loft and highlight the benefits of the Gastown lifestyle. Kye was at the suite with a sleeping bag, a pillow and three days worth of food. He did not leave the building the entire time.
What made this event even more unique is that people all over the world were able to follow along on the live online video feed, Twitter or the 'The 72 Hour Open House' blog. Kye will participated in the live chat on the online video feed and Tweeted and bloged the weekends happenings.
Why Do This?
Simply put, Kye Grace's clients pay him well to sell their property. They don't pay him to tell them 'the market is tough', 'not many homes are selling', 'people aren't spending money right now'. They can get that for a dollar at the local news stand. Kye Grace and Entrepreneur and Speaker Steve Jagger sat down one night to brainstorm ideas on how to get maximum exposure for this listing and the idea was born. Really the credit for the idea goes to Steve, a great outside the box thinker.
Where was this Open House
21 - 120 Powell St, Pilkington House in Gastown, Vancouver, BC. This Heritage loft is in the Pilkington House which was built in 1910 and was a glass warehouse for the Pilkington Glass Company until 1950. The building was converted to 6 loft units on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors and one large office space on the ground level in 1993. The building has a rich history as a glass warehouse where many of Vancouver's classic building's windows were built including the windows in the original St. Pauls Hospital in 1932.
