Kye's Story

By early 2005 feeling the lure of furthering his education with a focus on an MBA, Kye was contemplating leaving his employment of 10 years with the BC Ambulance Service. Although he loved the work and the people he met along the way, a change was needed. He knew there were opportunities available that would bring him higher personal satisfaction and provide greater learning regarding organizational behaviour. During this time of contemplation he was prompted by a superior to apply for a management position within the organization, which he did and was the successful candidate. Kye viewed this as an opportunity to grow and learn in alignment with his desired path while contemplating his next step. He set a goal to be prepared to decide and act on the next step within 2 years. The opportunity to leave prior to an organizational transition was provided to him within his allotted time frame and the next chapter of his life began. Plenty of thanks and praise were giving to those who helped him grow and learn along the way; not to mention all the smiles, laughs and moral support shared between Kye and his peers during his 10 years on the front lines as a Paramedic and Emergency Medical Dispatcher in Vancouver.

Of course Kye couldn't help himself but to take advantage of his first period of ‘unemployment' in 15 years and headed off on a 6 month fly fishing trip around British Columbia, during which he made the decision to become a Realtor. Kye really wanted to start ‘doing' and despite being a lifelong learner wasn't sure he had the patience for years of schooling. Upon his return from his fishing adventure he completed the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course and began his career as a Realtor.

 

Kye quickly found out the skills he developed with his previous employer extremely transferable. Anyone can remain professional, knowledgeable, articulate and effective when they are in control of the situation and receive no ‘curve balls'. His background in Emergency Services allowed him to develop the skills required to perform at his best when faced with adversity, variables or crisis. He had no choice but to find a successful solution to the situations presented, people's lives depended on it. All while treating his patients (clients) and other parties involved with respect and dignity.

 

Although the ‘stakes' have been reduced slightly, the skills continue to prove vital as a Vancouver Realtor. When others are ‘losing their heads' and deals are in jeopardy, Kye brings himself and others to a place of calm and calculated actions to create the ultimate resolve.

 

As a Vancouver Realtor, Kye strives to be professional, knowledgeable, articulate and effective at all times not just when a challenge looms. He takes a proactive approach and works hard to ensure situations do not digress.
